Africa proved once again tonight that they are kings of long-distance racing.
Eritrean Tsesezeab Woldemichael won Otley Athletic Club’s ten-mile race by a staggering five minutes and 45 seconds, having led from gun to tape.
He clocked 52min 05sec, which was about a mile clear of runner-up Owen Bielby (Wharfedale Harriers), with Bingley Harrier Tim Midgley third in 58:05.
Robert De’Giovanni was fourth for Valley Striders in 58:33 and led them to the team race, their other counters finishing in seventh and eighth places.
Leading lady was Pudsey Pacers’ Karen Pickles, who came home in 68:42, ahead of Rebecca Cesar de Sa (Skyrac), 70:19, and Sally Malir (Ilkley Harrier), 71:46.
Ben Cousen was Otley AC’s first member home in 64:56.
