The Easter Bunny Run season ended on Tuesday with 77 tastily-named teams creating mayhem on Penistone Hill, Haworth, in the 2011 Bunny Relays.

Team numbers were specially marked red, white and blue to celebrate the royal wedding, and no fewer than five team records were set during the evening.

The ‘Lancashire Lads’, comprising Tim Ellis, Shaun Godsman and Alex Whittem, took top spot, hareing round in 28min 50sec with only five seconds difference between their three legs.

Second place went to the first mixed team, ‘Yorkshire Mixture’, with Jo Buckley leading off, followed by Lee Athersmith and Ben Mounsey.

First under-16 boys' team of Max Wharton, Bradley Traviss and William Smith finished fourth in a record of 29:54 - an excellent time with each 1.5-mile ‘long lap’ comprising 200 feet of climbing.

First female team was ‘Flashy, Dashy & Splat’, which included Kath Farquhar and Katie Walshaw (who enjoyed it so much she hopped around again). Their time of 34:00 set a fresh ladies' mark.

Finally, the fancy dress and girls’ under-14 prize went to the ‘Pesky Kids’ of Lucy Byram, Erika Byram and Olivia Sykes, who set a record of 36:51.

The previous Tuesday, the third of the conventional three-mile Bunny Runs was staged, each marked with a sprint start and an ‘Egg-Stage’ prize.

Ilkley’s Tom Adams won that spurt, but gave way to 45-year-old Ian Holmes (Bingley) on the final climb, who clocked 15min 4sec, for his 30th lifetime win in the series, worth a mountain of chocolate prizes.

The glorious, sunny weather had drawn 288 runners onto the heathery, quarry-pitted park.

Holmfirth’s Katie Walshaw won the ladies’ egg-stage sprint in 4min 1sec, just two seconds off the course best.

England junior international Beckie Taylor (Blackburn) was a minute behind Walshaw at the end, English under-14 champion Elizabeth Greenwood was next home.

The only record of the night, considering the perfect conditions, was by James Hall in the under-16s, who took 23sec off William Smith’s time in finishing eighth overall.
