Airienteers claimed four victories when they hosted a regional event at Hirst Wood and Shipley Glen.

The pick was Steve Watkins’ easy success on the 4km green course in 23min 14sec, with fellow club members Angela Hulley, Jez Wilkinson and Marie Gibbs in fourth, eighth and ninth respectively.

There was also a triumph for Christopher Hulley on the 3.2km yellow course in 14.01, with Aire’s Robert Matthews in third, while Annie Brown was also a winner on the 1.8km white course in 14.23.

Junior runner Ruaridh Mon-Williams had a good run to win the 4km light green course in 36.24, with Aire’s Lucy Haines third in 42.50.

There was more success for Watkins when he won the Idle Streets orienteering event, with Dave Alcock narrowly beating L Foster into second, while Claire Towler was the first female runner.

Meanwhile, Airienteers’ junior section have reached the national finals of the Yvette Baker trophy at Kidder-minster on December 5 – the main inter-club competition for juniors.
