There was an orient express last weekend as Bingley’s Harden Moor played host to a double-header.

The two-day competition involved a night event on Saturday and a middle-distance event on Sunday.

Both days’ racing were hosted by the Airienteering Club from West Yorkshire and featured Irish international James Logue, who was the weekend’s star.

He won the long course on Saturday in 50min 06sec and the 5.45km Black course on Sunday.

The local runners were left trailing in his wake, with Rob King and Aire captain David Alcock the closest in the two races.

There was success for the region though when Peter Jones and Florence Haines won the medium and short courses respectively on Saturday.

Local runners were to the fore on the 3.925km Blue course too, which was won by Kelvin Dawson in 44.14, with Laurence Doddy runner-up in 45.15.

Airienteers resume their popular O-Lite Series at Danefield, near Otley, next Saturday.
