World triathlon champion Jonny Brownlee maintained his family’s dominance of the Chevin Chase with his third successive victory in the popular Boxing Day event.

Jonny and his Olympic gold medal-winning brother Alistair have now won the race in seven of the past eight years.

Alistair did not compete today but those who turned up to watch the field of more than 800 runners saw his younger brother produce another fine run.

He completed the saturated course in 39min 03sec and finished 51 seconds ahead of his nearest challenger Danny Hallam.

Third place went to Darren Kay of Pudsey & Bramley, with Quentin Lewis of Baildon Runners in fourth.

The best-placed Otley runner was Liam Dunn in seventh place with Ilkley Harriers’ Ben Stevens in eighth.

The first lady to finish was Bingley Harrier Victoria Wilkinson. She was 29th in 46.24. Wilkinson finished almost three minutes ahead of the second lady Donna Edmondson.
