Employer of the Year

THE Telegraph & Argus can trace its direct history back to 1868 when the Bradford Daily Telegraph – the city’s first daily newspaper and forerunner of today’s T&A – appeared on the streets costing a half-penny a copy (about £1.47 per copy at today’s prices!).

Its newspaper roots, however, go back to the birth of the Bradford Observer, in 1834, a title which, in the shape of the Yorkshire Observer, was amalgamated into the T&A in 1956.

The Telegraph & Argus itself first appeared in 1926, when the Bradford Daily Telegraph and the Yorkshire Evening Argus merged to create the daily newspaper that is now such a well-known fixture of the Bradford district.

In recent years, the T&A has won numerous awards for design, content, campaigns and appeals, including accolades for the Specialist Publication of the Year 2013 in the Yorkshire & Humber Media Awards, for its coverage of Bradford City’s Capital One Cup run.

As well as being one of the top regional daily newspapers in the country, our website – telegraphandargus.co.uk – is also one of the best-read and fastest-growing.

We continue to engage with – and campaign on the behalf of – our readers through the traditional print platforms, but embrace new technology and digital methods, including social networking.
