Bradford Telegraph and Argus:

Job Creator of the Year

This is a category to recognise that employment is one of the major issues facing the Bradford district, and to recognise those who have bucked the trend and recruited.

We are looking for a business or individual who has played an outstanding role in boosting employment in the Bradford district through innovation, investment and risk-taking in the face of tough economic conditions.

To win, a firm might have taken on a large number of people, or perhaps created a smaller number of very high-quality jobs.

ECSC Group (pictured above) won last year’s award.

Based in Listerhills Science Park, ECSC’s close proximity to the University of Bradford has helped it forge strong ties.

Consultants often give cyber security lectures to students and a number of highly skilled technical staff have been recruited from there.

The company has taken on student placements each year since 2013, developing cyber security students into full time graduate positions. It has also taken part in the UK government apprentice scheme to help a number of young people from the region kickstart a career in cyber security.

Recently staff numbers have doubled to 100.

The Bradford Means Business Awards are a great opportunity to celebrate the great entrepreneurial spirit that this city has.

Your local Chamber of Commerce is delighted, once again, to be able to support the awards, and we look forward to cheering on what will be well-deserved winners on gala night.

While there are, this year, even more uncertainties in the economy than there usually are, most people in business are simply getting on with the job they know best, without fuss. It’s only right, therefore, that some should get a pat on the back in this way.

So, while not all firms can be winners on the night, we like to think that these awards also ‘doff the cap’ to Bradford’s business community, in a collective way as well as to individual firms. We're looking forward to the nominations unearthing some new gems in our business community that can get some overdue recognition.
