A WOMAN says she has received the backing of fellow businesses in a Bradford district village after relocating her shop.

Patten Home Gifts started as a home-based fragrance business in July 2020 for owner Carissa Patten.

The business quickly grew and opened a shop on Kirkgate in Shipley in January 2022.

As she does not drive, Carissa was facing two-hour round walking trips to the Shipley shop from her home. But she now has a far more convenient two-minute walk after she relocated to a bigger shop on The Green in Idle, which had its grand opening on February 11.

She says she already feels at home in her new location and has received support from fellow firms in the busy shopping street in Idle which includes Miss Butterfingers Tea Room, ‘Funky and Fresh’ Salon, The Green Café and The Idle Draper.

Carissa makes and sells her own home fragrance items and also stocks goods from a host of Bradford district-based businesses including Baxters Bath Bombs, Goddess and Moon and Saltaire Print Maker.

She said: “I live in Idle and the new shop is a two-minute walk from my house, compared to a two-hour walk to the shop and back in Shipley.

“It’s a relief to have this place. It’s a bit bigger and I’m able to stock more than I was able to before.

“It’s more of a community being here. Everyone from every other business here came into the shop on Saturday. People have said it has helped to make it a village again.
