A BRADFORD restaurant says it will assess after six months whether to keep both sites open as it gears up to launch at a second location in the district.
International is set to open a second restaurant on Sticker Lane, Laisterdyke, in late November as it takes over the prominent site from 3 Singhs.
But International confirmed in a Facebook post that it would continue to run its existing restaurant on Mannville Terrace, Morley Street.
Safeer Khan, manager of International, says it is exciting times for his business and it made sense to open up at a larger location.
Its Morley Street restaurant has space for 120 seats, while the additional location at Sticker Lane will have capacity for up to 290 diners at any one time.
The owners of 3 Singhs announced earlier this month that it would be leaving its Sticker Lane location after 18 years.
Mr Khan said: “It is exciting for International.
“In about six months’ time we will reflect on both of the sites and decide which site we should keep or keep both. We will see what we can do.
“The feedback we are getting from customers about opening at a second site has been positive. Everybody is so excited.
“Sticker Lane is a bigger location and people are saying they can’t wait and they are looking forward to it.
“Car parking at Morley Street is horrendous. It seems to get full quickly. We struggle at the weekends there as we don’t have enough capacity.
“We can’t fulfill our potential where we currently are.
“We want to stay in Bradford because Bradford has given us everything over the last 50 years. It was always going to be in Bradford. The location had to be right.
“I think if we did not do this next step we would regret it. The 3 Singhs owners have been very supportive of us taking over the location.”
International said in a Facebook post: “International is proud to announce the opening of our second branch right here in Bradford. Located on sticker lane taking over the 3 Singhs establishment.
“As it stands our Morley Street branch (BD7 1BA) will remain open, we aim to upkeep both locations in order for them to reach their full potential.”
International, the family-run eatery was first established in 1976, when Indian cuisine was a new feature to the British Isles. It reopened on Morley Street after a refurbishment in 2019.
