LOCAL residents have reacted in shock after a 19 year old man died following a stabbing in Duckworth Lane last night, triggering a murder investigation.

A huge police cordon remains in place this morning at the scene, following a large street brawl in which cars were damaged and the man, 19, was fatally wounded.

This morning, residents have said the incident is "scary" and that they don't let their children out after 6pm due to the state of things in the area.

One resident, who asked not to be named, said: "I heard a bit of rowdiness, I was just thinking let's see, I'm local anyway.

"My phone was pinging, I just thought it was the group chat, it's my mate's birthday today, I'll open it in the morning.

"I opened it in the morning and just thought what's happened locally.

"I genuinely thought these days are over but obviously not. You can't trust no one either."

Another local resident added: "I've got nieces and nephews who live with me.

"We don't even let them out after six o'clock, because that's when the youngsters come out, that's their time to come out and play.

"They (nieces and nephews) come back from school, go to mosque for an hour, play for an hour. You can't even trust them in the garden."

One guy looking at the scene said: "God help us.

"Back in our day you'd meet face to face, shake hands and that was it.

"Nowadays they pull pieces and all sorts."

A resident reported seven cars at the scene of the large scale disorder last night.
