BUS routes are having to be diverted this morning as a major road in the city is closed following a stabbing overnight.

First West Yorkshire has said it is having to divert its 617 and 618 routes as Duckworth Lane, close to Bradford Royal Infirmary, and Little Lane are closed.

This is due to a stabbing that occurred following a large street fight in Duckworth Lane last night, in which a 19-year-old was stabbed.

He later died in hospital and a murder investigation was launched.

The bus services are being diverted in both directions along Toller Lane, Smith Lane and Daisy Hill Lane.

Travel Xpress is also having to change its service to Bradford Royal Infirmary.

It said its B9 bus is unable to pick up passengers from the BRI Stop on Duckworth Lane because of the incident, and an alternate route is being used with the bus travelling down Allerton Road onto Thornton Road.

Travel Xpress said: "Apologies for any inconvenience."
