25 years ago: Bradford’s leading publican decided to quit because he said greedy breweries made it impossible for him to make a living. Hundreds of others could follow suit, claimed Bradford’s Licensed Victuallers’ Association.
50 years ago: Residents in 70 houses and farms in the village of Clifton, near Otley, began to draw their water from standpipes. The yield from springs that provided the village supply had dropped so heavily that supplies to the houses were cut off.
