25 years ago: Super-fan Russell Grainger, of Blenheim Road, Manningham, was hoping to raise £2,000 for leukaemia research by trekking 70 miles from Bradford to Blackpool to watch 'The Nolans' in concert, the 450th time he had been to see the band.

50 years ago: Workmen began installing plinths in Bradford's Lister Park to support the 17 exhibits that would make up the Arts Council open-air display of contemporary British sculpture, including work from Yorkshire-born artists Henry Moore, Barbara Hepworth, Kenneth Armitage, and Ralph Brown.
