25 years ago: More than 1,000 shoppers voted in an unofficial ballot to oppose the introduction of the ‘poll tax’ during a trade union protest against the new charge in Keighley town centre.
50 years ago: Police were searching for a lorry and its load of 18 Bendix washing machines, worth around £2,500, after the vehicle was stolen in a night-time raid outside a house in Denholme.
