Bradford writer Derek AJ Lister is urging former members of Bradford bands, or anyone who knows of them, to get in touch before the deadline of his next book, The Who’s Who Of Bradford Rock And Roll Years 1954-1966. Derek, a key figure on Bradford’s music scene as Dal Stevens, resident DJ at the Gaumont and Majestic ballrooms, has charted periods of Bradford’s music and social history in his previous books, Bradford’s Rock ’n’ Roll – The Golden Years, Bradford’s Own and Bradford, Born And Bred.
Now he’s busy on an expanded version of Bradford’s Rock ’n’ Roll, which will include more information about groups on the Bradford music scene between 1954 and 1966.
The book will include a biography of each band member. Derek would also like information on acts from 1967 to the present.
“I have a cut-off point for any further editorial which is only a few weeks away,” he says. “I’d like to hear from people who were in any of the following groups performing from 1954 until 1966.”
They are The Rhythm Rebels, The Toledos, The Stormville Five, The Delkados, and female vocalist Josie McCann.
Anyone who can help is asked to contact Derek on (01274) 511915 or 07787 337965.
