We’ve had an e-mail from Richard Bent, who wants to know if any readers can shed any light on Hannah Green, who was also known as the “Ling Bob Witch”.
Richard writes: “I read a brief mention of this in a reproduction of a very old document on the internet. I believe she died some time in the 19th century and was considered a very powerful witch.
“I have read scraps of information here and there, but am puzzled as some references have Hannah Green as being from Yeadon, and others suggest she’s from Wilsden.
“The latter would make more sense to me as there’s a pub in Wilsden called the Ling Bob. Was Hannah Green anything to do with this?”
