Former Woodhouse Grove pupil Joanna Craven spearheaded Yorkshire’s victory in the AEGON Winter County Cup.

They won Ladies’ Group One at Bath University, with the 22-year-old winning all six of her matches.

Yorkshire defeated Hertfordshire 5-4, Essex 6-3 and Warwickshire 5-2 to lift the crown, with Hull’s Sarah Gregg and Joanna’s younger sister Georgia, 16, winning three out of three.

Selby’s Nicola Mooney won two out of three, while Sheffield’s Jessica Ren and Leeds Metropolitan University student Linsey Jacks also finishing with positive statistics, each having won three out of five.

Yorkshire men’s, who lost their first two matches, avoided relegation from Group One, also at Bath University, by defeating Cheshire 5-3 on the final day.

Ilkley’s Kyle Brassington, who was playing the top singles and doubles, lost all five of his contests but Hull’s Jason Torpey won five out of six and fellow East Yorksireman Mike Tolman won four out of five.
