Bingley Bees were unable to arrest their losing streak as they lost 2-1 at Boston Spa thirds.

The Bees opened strongly and caused a number of problems for the home defence but it was some time before Matt Griffiths opened the scoring.

Further pressure caused disarray in the Boston ranks but Bingley could not take advantage by adding to their score and a short corner on the stroke of half-time led to an equaliser.

The second half produced end-to-end hockey, with both teams creating chances, but Bees keeper Andrew Stanniland had to make a number of saves to keep his side in the game before he finally conceded what proved the winning goal.

Bingley Ladies seconds lost by the same score at Harrogate fourths, having drawn with their opponents’ third team earlier in the season.

Tight marking at the back meant chances for Harrogate were few and far between but they took an interval lead following a goalmouth scramble.

A defensive error left a Harrogate forward unmarked to double the lead, before Cath Gallimore’s clever stick work earned a consolation goal for the Bees.
