Gaynor Fisher scored the decisive goal as Bingley Bees Ladies edged out arch-rivals Skipton 1-0.

Some great attacking play went unrewarded until Fisher netted from a short corner midway through the first half.

There was more frustration in front of goal after the interval but the Bees were good value for a win that keeps them a point behind leaders Leeds University.

Bees Ladies Seconds, ably led by stand-in captain Lucy Walsh, were narrowly beaten 2-1 by Halifax in the Yvonne Horner Shield.

A Sian Rolfs goal before half-time cancelled out Halifax’s early opener but a fine late strike settled the issue.

Jess Taylor and Jenny Barrett both had promising debuts for Bingley.

The Bees Mixed XI finally got their season underway with a 6-5 victory over Leeds.

Matthew Clough scored four of the goals, with Gail Day and Simon Hinchliffe completing the tally in a good-natured game.

The Bees Men did not have a game at the weekend.
