BRADFORD ladies 1sts claimed the local bragging rights with a 5-4 derby victory over Bingley Bees 2nds.

Both teams languish in the relegation zones having gained no points so far this season, so the win was extra special for Bradford.

Bees took an early lead from a short distance strike by Sian Porter, who quickly added a second.

Stand-in goalkeeper Steph Robertshaw made a number of saves before Bradford finally broke through with a quickfire double from Penny King and Cheryl Harrison.

An end-to-end second half saw further goals from Bees midfielder Janice Reid and Bradford's Megan Hooley.

Bradford took the lead for the first time through Ciara Dyson but Porter got the Bees back on level terms.

Ciara Dyson had the final say though with the match-winning ninth goal of the game.

Bees player of the match was awarded to midfielder Rachel Belk for her defensive tactics and work-rate.

Bingley Bees turned out their first-ever Development League team against Airedale 4ths, winning 1-0 with a goal from Tom Caink.

Bees were playing with a team comprising just two senior players – and all the junior players experiencing an 11-a-side game on a full size pitch for the first time.

Elsewhere, Bees men's 1sts drew 3-3 with City of York 5ths and Bees ladies 1sts beat Leeds University 3rds 1-0.
