Angling lines

BRADFORD No1 AA: The last of the club’s open matches for the season at Cowthorpe last Sunday produced some bumper catches of chub and perch, all on float tactics. Steve Newns topped the catches with no less than 20 chub totalling 63lb 11oz, falling to maggot and waggler methods. This left him 20lb above second-placed James Vickerman, who had 14 chub for a remarkable 43lb 11oz. Members are reminded that the coarse fishing season on rivers has now ended. Chellow Dene is worth a visit in the coming weeks for quality nets of roach and skimmers.

LISTERHILLS AA: Volunteers are required for Saturday’s working party at Pilley’s Dam, meeting at around 8.30am. Any help, no matter how little, will be appreciated. The close-season on rivers is now in force. Anglers who obtained Leeds Amalgamation membership through our club are invited to express their views about the erection of an otter fence at Knotford Lagoon. Call 07984-597328 or pass on a message. Final positions in the Winter Series: 1 E Harrison 11lb 14oz, 2 M Mannion 5lb 1oz, 3 D Jackson 4lb 10oz.

BRADFORD & DISTRICT SEA AC: The boat that we use at Rhyl will not be back in the water until late this month, so our trip secretary is trying to organise an outing to the venue in April. If there are any fish about it will be worth a crack. If you fancy joining us then call Dave on 07711-987833. Our next meeting is on Tuesday, starting at 8pm. This is our presentation evening so please try to attend. You never know, you may have won a trophy.

BRADFORD CITY AA: The coarse river season has now closed and reopens on Saturday, June 16. Members are also reminded that the small lake at Staveley will be closed this Sunday for the first of the spring/summer matches. There are only two places left for this match. Anyone wanting to book a place for this or future matches should contact match secretary Rod Brooksbank on 07875-275749 or 01423-523368.

FIELD AC: For this season’s opening match on Sunday we are at Sessay and fishing on Alders, drawing at 9am. Can all those who have booked on but have not payed this year’s membership please ensure they bring their fee with them. If you are not a member, you cannot fish. Last year’s runaway aggregate winner Rob Lee will be fishing once again and needs a bit more of a challenge!
