A new course is being launched to help young people learn how to play squash.
Bradford Council has teamed up with Sportivate to offer the course, which is open to 14-25 year olds at Keighley Leisure Centre.
The course will teach young people how to play squash, learn the rules of the game and develop shots, techniques and services. The sessions will be led by an elite England Squash Level 4-qualified coach.
The eight-week course will run from Saturday, August 4 and will cost £24 per person. Each session will last 80 minutes.
Due to the limited number of places available, it will be necessary to book in advance on 01535-681763.
Coun Andrew Thornton, Bradford Council’s Executive Member for Sport, said: “With the Olympics fast approaching, this is a great opportunity for young people to try something new, develop sporting skills, and keep fit and healthy."
The coaching sessions are receiving funding through the Sportivate programme, which forms part of the government’s drive to increase the health and fitness of youngsters and leave a lasting legacy to the 2012 Olympic Games.
Scores of local teenagers have already benefited from Sportivate’s golf coaching course which was run in Thornton, Ghyll Beck, and Baildon.
