Eccleshill Karate Club duo Courtney Rivers-Gallagher and Leah Whitfield both won medals at the SKU British Championships in Sheffield.
The English Institute of Sport venue had five mats working non-stop all day from 10am, with over 1,000 competitors from all over the UK taking part.
Rivers-Gallagher was leading after several hard rounds of kata. She then found herself in a tie-break for first place and, after another perfect performance, won gold by a clear point.
Whitfield also faced a tie-break and went on to secure a highly-respectable third place.
Unfortunately both girls picked up injuries during their bouts and were unable to continue in the kumite sections.
The pair train every Tuesday and Eccleshill Karate Club sensei Mick Fawcett said: “As always, I am very proud of the pair. They do the club proud every time.”
