Bismillah Karate Club, Bradford have enjoyed huge success in recent weeks with some hard-hitting action taking place.

The club competed in the British Karate Champion-ships, enduring some fierce competition on the way but eventually coming out on top.

The competition was made up of competitors representing clubs from Britain, as well as Europe. The victory was enough to round off a very successful year for the club, which has also seen them crowned national champions.

Amjid Hussain is one of the key components in the development of the club and the 3rd dan black belt said: “I have been teaching for four years and take great satisfaction in seeing my students develop.”

Hussain’s key objective is now to promote the sport within the Bradford community. With over 24 years’ experience, Hussain has now decided to run the club independently, after the council’s funding came to an end.

“I want more people to be part of karate, and this club aims to get bigger and better,” said Hussain.

Bismillah Karate Club is seeking the help of anyone who can contribute to keep the club running. All sponsors are welcome.

The club is currently running from Springwood Primary School, on Wood Street, Bradford. Training sessions are on Thursday evenings, between 6.30 and 7.30 for cadets and 7.30 to 9.00 for juniors and adults.

Everyone is welcome, regardless of experience.
