PUPILS from Bradford schools were jumping for joy after winning medals at the West Yorkshire Sainsbury's School Games trampolining finals at John Smeaton Leisure Centre in Leeds.

Thornton Grammar School were the dominant force in tucks and pikes, winning team silver at Key Stage Three level two and bronze at Key Stage Four level three, while individual medals went to Lauren Wright (gold at Key Stage Three level two, silver at individual advanced), Ashleigh Dickerson (Key Stage Four level three individual silver) and Taylor Ingham (individual advanced bronze).

Bradford also won a seventh medal via Appleton Academy's Kailum Pearson with silver at Key Stage Three level two.

They were competing against pupils from Leeds, Calderdale, Kirklees and Wakefield.

The games were organised by West Yorkshire Sport and delivered with support from a team of school games organisers.

Nigel Harrison, chief executive of West Yorkshire Sport, said: "The trampolining finals are one of our most popular sporting competitions, and the young people produced some outstanding aerial displays.

"The standard of competition seems to get better each year, and every school who qualified for the finals should be incredibly proud of their achievement.

"It's been a great month of School Games finals so far, and the countdown is now on to our big multi-sport finals at the end of the month."

The Games are supported by Education Network.
