Seven Bradford Fencing Club members pitted their skills against some of the best exponents in the county at the Yorkshire Team Foil competition.
The two Bradford teams, with some of them having been participating in the sport for less than a year and in their first competition, were among 16 at the event.
It was a triumph for the relatively young club, with 16 paid-up members, to get two full teams entered into the top Yorkshire team competition, even if their eventual positions were 12th and 15th.
The result was decided by seven matches for each team, 21 bouts per fencer, during a full day of enjoyable and competitive fencing.
The club meet on Tuesdays at Thornton Recreation Centre. New members are always welcome, with the next beginners course starting in September.
