Quest Taekwondo took 18 young members to a grass-roots tournament in Doncaster and they returned with 12 category wins between them.

The competitors – from Baildon, Bingley, Greengates, Cullingworth, Silsden and Settle – took part in the sparring event to gain experience and sharpen up their match fitness.

Coach Rick Simpson applauded all the Quest competitors but in particular Natasha Burdock, 14, after her attacking display earned an astonishing 25-0 win.

Fellow Silsden fighter Jamie Kidd, ten, also earned praise for his impressive defensive performance which sealed a 3-1 victory.

Other wins went to: Kieran Young, 18, Tyler Sparkes, 10, Liam Exley, 10, Liam Burdock, 10, Kai Hey, 7, Adam Cassere, 8, Manar Dhand, 10, Rebecca Weir, 9, Harry Blundell, 9, Ellie Bowden, 11.

Burdock, Young (from Bingley) and Harriet Akeroyd (16, Settle) and will be competing on the world sparring circuit next year, starting with the German A-Class Open in March.

The two girls will also be aiming for a Great Britain team place for the Junior European Championships in Portugal in September, together with clubmate Jake Barnett (16, Baildon).
