Right On Cue

Bradford No 1 captain Kevin Firth is celebrating selection for the England Seniors snooker side for the home internationals which take place from September 9-16 at Pontins in Prestatyn.

This is just reward for Firth, who had a fine season last time out. He reached the seniors final – where he was runner-up to Steve Judd of Nottingham, who will captain the national side – plus finished sixth in the overall seniors ranking list, despite only playing a fraction of the events.

As a result of his progress at national level, Firth has acquired a sponsorship deal with the award-winning Towngate Fisheries, a respected and community-orientated local business in Idle.

Owner Mark Hammond is delighted to be supporting Firth as he represents Bradford at national level next season and is looking forward to a successful partnership with the player.

The business sponsors many local sports teams, including Idle Juniors footballers, Thackley Cricket Club and Idle Bowling Club.

They also make donations to groups in the local community, including Emmanuel Community College and Stonebridge Nursing Home, and regularly supply prizes for local fundraising events.

In addition, Hammond’s business also sponsors the New Community Arts Academy (TNCAA) that is based in Bradford.

They are a community theatre and music group which involves people from all parts of the community and all ages – including young people with special needs, who would not otherwise get opportunities to perform.

Towngate Fisheries have supported the NSPCC since 2006, donating in excess of £4,000 to date.

They also support the Royal National Mission to Deep Sea Fishermen (Fishermen’s Mission), who help provide emergency and welfare support to Britain’s fishermen and their families.

In June 2010 Hammond and his customers helped raise over £1,760 for the Fishermen’s Mission.
