BRADFORD No 1 got their season back on track with a 5-1 victory against Harrogate at Undercliffe Cricket Club in the Yorkshire Inter-District Snooker League.

Having drawn one and lost two in their opening three matches – an unusual sequence of results for a normally consistent side – it should be remembered that those defeats came against Sheffield No 1 and Castleford No 1, who are fancied to go all the way this campaign.

Wayne Cooper was outstanding, playing two of the best frames of snooker likely to be seen this season against one of the leading players in Yorkshire in Gyles Behbood, who Cooper beat 4-3 in the Yorkshire final two years ago, having been 3-0 down.

Cooper started with a break of 36 and then made a 61 to win the first frame 119-0, backing this up with a clearance of 101 to take the second 116-0.

Kevin Firth won scrappy frames against Andy Blamire 73-49 and 68-48, while Lewis Walsh contributed a break of 30 to take the fifth frame 73-48, but Stuart Jauncy saved a whitewash for Harrogate with a 67-38 victory.

Bradford No 2 were at Wakefield and lost 4-2, with Peter Hamilton and Hanif Rafiq both winning a frame, Boover Singh's opponent Chris Hall making a 52 break.

* FOUR-time Bradford champion Gareth Green, who was last season's runner-up, progressed to the next round of the Bradford Snooker Championship with a 4-1 victory over Chris Hegarty.

Green will now play two-time finalist Mark Slater, who beat pairs partner Jason Murgatroyd 4-1 and made a break of 102.

Kevin Firth defeated Josh Walker 4-1 and there were wins for 2014 champion John Wellham (4-3) against Adam Tipper, Dean Parker (4-0) over Chris Wellham, Russell Morgan (4-2) against Cori Weir, Simon Jackson (4-2) over Tony Borza and Paul Davey (4-0) against Damien Bentley.
