WASHBURN VALLEY

The heaviest fish caught during the week was a 5lb 6oz rainbow trout by John Fowler using invictor. Fewston: Cooler mornings are spurring fish into feeding, taking nymph just below the surface. Swinsty: Changeable water levels are making fish unpredictable as they sit in deep water. Thruscross: Brown trout are feeding from the surface, taking heather fly while they last. Catch details (week ending September 23) – Day ticket: Fewston 32, Swinsty 3, Thruscross (catch and return) 2; total fish caught: Fewston 128, Swinsty 12, Thruscross 8; average per rod: Fewston 4.0, Swinsty 4.0, Thruscross 4.0. Fewston: It has been a challenging month, with fish feeding at all depths and changing daily. Buzzers, nymph and lures are all taking fish. Swinsty: Trout have been sitting deeper, with heavy lures needed to take good, fighting fish. Thruscross: This venue has fished well this month on many different flies, mostly near the surface. There are just a few days left this season, so don’t miss out. BRADFORD & DISTRICT SEA AC

We have arranged a trip to Liverpool Bay on Sunday, October 7. Anyone wishing to go should call Dave on 07711-987833. Places are limited, so book early. Our next general meeting is on Tuesday, October 16 (8pm) at the New Inn, East Bierley . As reported last week, one of our anglers caught a ling of 21lb 5oz in the Whitby festival, hoping to win the top prize of £1,000. Unfortunately this fish was beaten three days later by an angler from Hull, who caught a 23lb ling on the same boat. So Richard Ward takes the top prize in the festival with his vessel ‘Shy-Torque 2000’.
