BRADFORD No1 AA: Saturday’s junior match at Raskelf was won by Connor Mahoney with 16lb 2oz of bream and tench. Joint-second were Morgan Freer and Matt Foster with 12lb 2oz. Liam Jones won the under-11s with 11lb 13oz, followed by Sam Taylor with 11lb 2oz. All participants caught plenty of fish and thoroughly enjoyed the day. The next junior match is at Raskelf again on Saturday, July 14. Sunday’s committee match at Raskelf produced some excellent catches of fish including bream, ide, tench and F1s. The winner was Simon Freer with 51lb 13oz. Howard Foster caught 48lb 3oz of mainly ide, followed by Eric Thomas with 36lb 5oz – including a 3lb 11oz tench to win the biggest fish trophy. Raskelf Lake is closed again on Sunday for a veterans’ match, drawing at 9.30 am. The six-match Calder League series begins next month for teams of eight anglers. River levels should finally have returned to normal this weekend for the first time this season so all the club’s stretches should produce good catches of fish, especially the Swale and Calder.

WASHBURN VALLEY: The heaviest fish caught during the week was a 5lb 4oz rainbow trout by John Passelow using black hopper. Fewston & Swinsty: Many hatching off throughout the day, with trout still concentrating on the nymph. Some good sport early evening as trout rise to take may fly on top, also hoppers and sedge. Thruscross: Proper wild brown trout are taking midge and spider patterns below the bankside willows. Catch details (week ending June 24) – Day ticket: Fewston 19, Swinsty 3, Thruscross (catch and return) 2; total fish caught: Fewston 158, Swinsty 15, Thruscross 12; average per rod: Fewston 8.3, Swinsty 5.0, Thruscross 6.0.

Fewston & Swinsty: The past month has produced some good trout, with plenty of fly life to fatten up rainbow and blues. The weather seems to have been against anglers but conditions are just right for the fish. Thruscross: A good month, with plenty of fish taking dry and nymph. The next month should see heather fly emerge to drive wild brown trout into a feeding frenzy. BRADFORD CITY AA: Members are reminded that vehicular access at Dunsforth Lodge is still not available due to the fields been waterlogged. The river at Brampton Farm is producing good catches of roach, perch, dace and the odd large bream. The next match is on Sunday at Brampton Farm, not Lower Dunsforth as in the yearbook. LISTERHILLS AA: Sunday’s open match at Rodley was won by M Mannion with 2lb 4oz. Other results: 2 G Reeday 1lb 8oz, 3 G Kitchen 1lb 6oz, 4 M Moss 1lb 2oz. The draw for Sunday’s open at Rodley and all future Sunday opens is at 9am by the bridge. There is also a members’ match at Pilley’s on Sunday. The gate opens at 8.30am, with the draw at 8.45am. BRADFORD DISTRICT SEA AC: We have a trip to Rhyl planned on Sunday, July 8. Anyone wishing to go should call Dave Kitchingman on 07711-987833 to book a place. Our next general meeting is on Tuesday, July 17 at the New Inn, East Bierley, starting at 8pm. Any new members will be welcome. People who are going to Culdaff should try to attend this meeting as there is a pre-trip meeting. Any money will be due for the trip.

GREAT HORTON AA: Last week’s mach at Viking Fishery (Hawk Lake) was well attended, with plenty of double-figure catches. Result: 1 O Hudspith 50lb 13oz, 2 P Weston 31lb 3oz, 3 P Tiffany 27lb 14oz, 4 J Sutcliffe 27lb 4oz. The ‘golden peg’ was also taken by the winner. This week’s family and friends event will be fished at Far View. Those who want to attend should call Des Cole.

Bierley AC: Result of 24-hour carp match: 1 K Oxley 9lb 15oz, 2 R Waterhouse 9lb 2oz, 3 J Wright 9lb. Result of Sunday’s match, fished on the top pond: 1 P Coote 8lb 4oz, 2 T Mahon 5lb 4oz, 3 C Bacon 5lb 2oz. This Sunday’s match is on the middle pond. We still have anglers leaving cigarette butts at pegs. Please dispose of in the bins provided.

HEWENDEN AC: Wednesday match results: 1 Andrew Healey 5lb 2oz, 2 Steve Newns 4lb 7oz, 3 Sean Denning 2lb 8oz. Can we also remind all members there is a work party on Saturday, starting around 9am. The more help the better. The lake will be closed on this day.
