Bradford Dragons beat visitors Reading Rockets 77-73 in their final game of the regular campaign to finish sixth in their first season in EBL Division One.

Both teams battled hard for the win to give them the best final league position ahead of the play-offs.

Leading 61-59 going into the final quarter, the irrepressible Bobby Edmunds claimed a third triple, narrowly missing a triple double, on his way to 14 points, seven rebounds and ten assists, not to mention four steals.

Rockets tied the game at 64-64 before Denis Scott kept his nerve to make crucial rebounds, put-backs for two and shots from the line to edge Dragons to victory.

Coach Chris Mellor said: “Like our previous games with Reading, it was tough and physical and I’m pleased with the way we stayed strong and made the big plays at the end.”

For Dragons, Vance Silcott scored 26 points and Chris McGrew 16.

Dragons are away to either Derby Trailblazers or Worthing Thunder in the play-off quarter-final this Saturday.
