Defending Bradford League Division One champions Dewsbury Sedbergh have made a mixed start to the table tennis season but new signing Ian Denton from South Yorkshire has already made a good impression.

Sedbergh lost their opening fixture against Highdale A before bouncing back to beat Embassy B as Denton won all of his six singles.

In Division Three, Hermits have added an extra team thanks to the acquisition of two new players. Dave Palmer played in the league several years ago with Ajax Minerva and has returned for another spell, while Paul Smythe has moved to this area from the south.

They have teamed up with Glen Ellis to form Hermits X and began with a 7-3 win against Hermits B. Palmer was unbeaten while Smythe and Ellis won two.

In Division Four Baildon A overcame Hermits E. Kath Manogue was unbeaten for Hermits, while Peter Warner and Phil Russell won two each for Baildon.Chris Willey supplied one win before joining Warner to clinch victory in the doubles.
