A Bradford motor club are looking to drive up their membership after gaining official status.

The imaginatively-titled Rotating Ferrets became fully recognised by the Motor Sports Association (MSA) earlier this month after meeting their criteria for the number of members needed.

Club president Frazer Metcalfe explained how the club, and their eye-catching name, came about.

He said: “I actually attended my first rally when I was three but Mark Smith, the secretary, and I went to the Jim Clark Rally in 2009 and decided we should form our own club.

“All of the others were representative of their areas, like the Huddersfield Motor Club etc, and we thought ‘what about the Rotating Ferrets, like you do!’ “We got talking to a few people and they were interested and we started making progress into it last year and then we got the MSA approval earlier this month.”

The club hold regular meetings as well as attending various motor sport events throughout the year.

Metcalfe said: “We meet every second Wednesday of the month at the Robin Hood pub on Otley Road.

“We’ve got about 25, 26 members at the moment and we regularly get invitations to training days or to rallies that we marshall at.

“We’re getting known when we turn up to rallies because of the name, which gives us all a great buzz, and I would just urge any petrolheads to come along and check us out.”
