Bradford swimming clubs rose to the challenge at the November Rising Stars Meet held at Shipley Pool.

The seven/eight-year-olds competed over 25 metres and, in the girls’ events, Lucy Adeniji (Bradford Dolphins) won the backstroke and breaststroke and Hannah Shuttleworth (Bradford Swimming Club) the butterfly and freestyle.

In the equivalent boys’ events, the honours all went to Benjamin Adeniji, who won the backstroke, breaststroke and butterfly.

The boys’ nine years, where individual medley events are introduced, saw Dolphins’ George Acton strike gold in all but the freestyle, which was taken by City of Bradford’s Nathan Strauss.

Abigail Cleghorn (Bingley) took the girls’ butterfly, freestyle and medley, Jade Buxton (Dolphins) the breaststroke and Charlotte Whiteoak (Bradford SC) the backstroke.

Neve Godfrey-Clarke, of Bingley, came though in the ten-year-old butterfly and freestyle, along with Grace Acton (Dolphins, backstroke), Rosin Duffy (Bradford SC, breaststroke) and Siobahn Akers (City of Bradford, individual medley).

Tobi Adeniji dominated the honours in the boys’ events, winning the butterfly, backstroke and breaststroke, with Dolphins team-mate Dominic Bland winning the butterfly and medley.

Bingley’s William Broadbent had a clean sweep in the boys’ 11 years, and in the girls events, Maria Campean (Bradford SC) touched first in the breaststroke, butterfly and medley and Bethany Meer (Bingley) took the backstroke and freestyle.

Dolphins’ Cameron Walker headed up the boys’ 12 years with first-place finishes in the butterfly, backstroke and medley and Bradford SC’s Jamie Dawson took the breaststroke and freestyle.

The honours were shared in the equivalent girls’ events, with Bingley’s Chloe Whitlock taking the backstroke, Bradford SC’s Megan Anderton the breaststroke and Dolphins’ Lauren Ascough shining through in the butterfly, freestyle and medley.

Jordan Hilliard (Bradford) took the backstroke, breaststroke, butterfly and medley in the 13 years category and clubmate Elliott Phillips the freestyle.

Continuing their run of success in this age group, Bradford SC enjoyed a clean sweep in the girls’ events, with Lucy Rhodes top of the podium in the butterfly, freestyle and medley and Anna Davidson in the backstroke and breastroke.
