Rawdon’s Anna Blyth is still coming to terms with being a bronze medallist in the women’s points race at the National Track Cycling Championships in Manchester.

The 100% ME rider confessed: “I’m happy with the result. I have never finished a points race like that before so to get a medal as well, I’m over the moon to be honest.

“I didn’t see Corrine (Hall) go and was concentrating on where I needed to be for each sprint.

“For the last sprint, I was conscience that Ruby (Miller) was only a few points away so I thought for the last sprint, I’d go for it and hope the best.”

Hall won a great race with a brilliant late move which won her back-to-back sprints and also netted her 20 points for lapping the field.

Before that, Danni King had dominated the race with a strong display of riding mixed with tactical awareness.

But just as interest seemed to be moving towards who would win silver and bronze, Hall made her move, consigning King to second place. Miller was fourth.

On day one, Blyth was fourth in the women’s 500 metre time trial, won by defending champion Victoria Pendleton.
