Right On Cue

Laisterdyke WMC A are the new HEY’S TROPHY champions after defeating Harold Club A in the final at Undercliffe Cricket Club.

It is only the second time in the competition’s 86-year history that the Sticker Lane-based club have won.

Delighted captain Bernard McLoughlin helped them to their only previous victory back in 1988.

Harold Club captain Chris Littlewood edged both his frames against Bernard Turner but Paul Wood dominated his two against Jim Britten to leave Laisterdyke 35 points ahead at the interval.

The expected game of the night pitted Dean Parker of Laisterdyke against Harold Club’s Andy Stocks.

Both players struggled with their form, which did not contribute to a classic, but Parker made a telling 31 break to enable his side to edge a little further ahead.

Laisterdyke were looking comfortable when McLoughlin eased to a big victory in his first frame, leaving opponent Alec Littlewood a mountain to climb in the last.

And this proved to be the case as the match was closed out quickly, McLoughlin showing all his experience to secure the title.

The BRADFORD SNOOKER CHAMPIONSHIP pairs final takes place at Great Horton Conservative Club tomorrow night (7.45).

Kevin Firth and Dave Stirk from Undercliffe Cricket Club take on Manningham Ward duo Gareth Green and Damian Wilks in what promises to be an entertaining match.

The final of the MOORHOUSE SHIELD between Chapel Green Liberals and Great Horton Conservative Club takes place at Queensbury Conservative Club a week on Thursday (7.45pm).
