A Bradford driver is on the fast track to success after signing a deal to race in the 2010 British Formula Ford Championship.

Josh Benson, from Drighlington, will follow in the footsteps of Michael Schumacher, Nigel Mansell and current F1 world champion Jenson Button by competing in the series.

The 18-year-old former Hipperholme & Lightcliffe High School pupil will again be driving for the GV Racing team after completing an impressive 2009 season for them, including four wins and 12 podium places.

“I strongly believe that we can be a dominant force on the grid in 2010 and I’m excited at the prospect of working with some new team-mates,” said Benson.

“The standard and the quality of drivers in the championship this year has been exceptional and I feel proud to have been part of that.”
