Hannah Beaumont led the way with four gold medals as City of Bradford swimmers enjoyed success at the Jersey Tigers AIB Open Meet.

The 11-year-old produced some impressive performances to win the 200m and 400m freestyle, the 200m backstroke and the 200m individual medley.

She also picked up two silver medals at the Les Quennevais Pool in St Brelade, Jersey.

Sixteen City of Bradford swimmers, along with development coach Sarah Fisher, assistant coach Omar Hussain and support staff, were up against competitors from across the UK and the Channel Islands.

For many, it was their first taste of competing away from home.

And they rose to the challenge in no uncertain terms, appearing on the podium on no less than 25 occasions over the two-day meet.

Eleven-year-old Jordon Tate was City’s other gold medal winner when he powered to victory in the 200m butterfly event. He also claimed a silver.

Isobel Stirk’s time of 1 min 3.68secs in the 100m freestyle won her the top 12-year-old girl prize for her performance based on BAGCAT points. The time gave her a silver medal in the girls 12 to 13 years’ age group.

Jessica Foulds responded well to a heavy programme, taking away no less than four silver and four bronze medals.

Her silvers came in the 200m backstroke, 200m and 400m individual medley, and 100m breaststroke, while her bronzes were won in the 100m and 400m freestyle, 100m butterfly and 100m backstroke.

Other sliver-medal places went to Azura Cairns Poole and Joshua Walker (2).

Bronze medals were the order of the day for Chelsie Reardon, Megan Lee, Walker (2) and Joshua Holdsworth.

With 12 fourth-placed finishes and more than 100 personal best times from a total of 150 swims, the coaching staff were more than satisfied that the weekend had been a worthwhile experience for the team.

Special mention goes to Reardon, Michaela Dalton, Isobel Mawson, Lucy Ward, Mille Foulds and Holds-worth, who produced a high percentage of personal-best times.
