Femi Fehintola today confirmed: I will be fighting in Bradford next.

Fehintola has got his wish for a home-town date when he will top the bill in the Valley Parade banqueting suite on Saturday, December 5.

The former British title challenger has also pledged to compete for a belt in the city.

Super-featherweight Fehintola returned from a year out of the ring with a wide points win over Sid Razzaq in Sheffield a fortnight ago.

Now based under new trainer Joe Gallagher in Manchester, he is forecasting a bright future – and wants the Bradford fanbase to share it with him.

That is why he is so pleased to have nailed down the chance to perform in his home city.

Fehintola said: “We’ve got everything up and flying again. The last fight was just a case of getting over the last year and the next one is going to be more of a test, maybe looking at an eight-rounder.

“Originally I was hoping for a title shot in December but it’s the same night that Matthew Macklin has got a big fight in Ireland and Joe needs to be over there with him.

“So we’ll have this fight and then I’ll look to get straight back out in January or February. I want to get straight on it in 2010 and I’m definitely going to fight for a title in Bradford.”

The December bill will feature five fights with a strong local interest on the undercard.

Fehintola is likely to have the backing of Clinton Woods and Tim Witherspoon supporting his corner.

“We’re aiming to sort out a good opponent and then I’m going in there to impress my Bradford fans,” he said.

“I was straight back in the gym after the Razzaq fight so I know I’ll be in superb condition to show them what I’ve got.

“With all the changes, I’ve had to be patient, but things couldn’t be going better for me. It’s all shaping up to be a really big year and I want the supporters to share it with me.”

Tickets for December 5 are now on sale. Bookings can be made on 07852-104456.
