Keighley’s Mary Fuller is putting her experiences at the $172,000 English Open down to experience.
The Oakbank member, who was 17 on Monday, entered the girls’ under-21 singles event at the English Institute of Sport in Sheffield.
But the unranked teenager failed to win a game in her group, going down 11-8, 11-3, 11-2 to world No 433 Laura Perocheau of France and 11-6, 11-4, 11-7 to Welsh No 1 Naomi Owen.
“There were 12 tables in action and I found the experience a bit daunting in such a big arena,” confessed Fuller.
“I didn’t play very well and was nervous but it’ll help for next time.”
