Right on Cue

Details have now been released for snooker's English Amateur and Yorkshire Championships.

The regional qualifiers for the English Championship will be played over the weekend of January 19-20 2008 and the deadline for entries is Monday, December 17.

Matches are played on a best-of-seven frames basis up to the semi-finals and the entry fee is £40 if entered through the Bradford Association. Those who are already individual members can enter at a cost of £30.

Venues for the regional qualifiers will be released in due course, although it is expected that the Northern Snooker Centre in Leeds will host the Yorkshire section.

The Yorkshire Championship qualifying dates will be two Sundays, February 3 and 17, and the deadline for entries is Sunday, January 13.

This format will be best-of-five frames up to the quarter-finals, with an entry fee of £12. The tournament is sponsored by and held at the Northern Snooker Centre in Leeds.

  • Bradford's three teams in the Yorkshire Inter-District League are all in action this weekend.
  • In snooker, Division One leaders Bradford No 1 take on Harrogate at Undercliffe Cricket Club and Bradford No 2 host Huddersfield at Manningham Ward, while the billiards side entertain Harrogate at Cullingworth Conservative Club.

All the matches are scheduled to be played on Sunday with a 7.30pm start.
