HOSTS Pudsey A defeated Shipley Club A 23-7 to move a step closer to becoming Naylor Premier champions in the Bradford Saturday League, with Tom Hanson's 21-7 the pick of seven home winners.

Crossgates may still have a say in the title challenge and were helped by a 28-2 demolition of Whitkirk thanks to Mark Hughes 21-6, Kieran Smith 21-6 and Jon Wilcox 21-8.

Crossgates v Pudsey A now looks like being the title decider – but with both teams having five games to play, a lot can still happen.

Asa Briggs A gave themselves a lifeline with a 26-4 win over bottom club Wyke A, with Mark Senior 21-4 and Malcolm Iles 21-5 the pick among eight home winners.

But Asa will need another big result in their home match against Ladyhill A on Saturday if they are to survive. Ladyhill could only manage a 15-15 draw at home to Eccleshill A, carding four winners.

Clayton A shocked Brighouse Sports A with a 17-13 away success thanks to a great 21-7 from Andy Tate, despite Richard Hobson's 21-6.
