HAROLD Park were convincing winners of the Bradford district's Four-A-Side Knockout, sponsored by Kolorco (Printers).

They beat Shipley Club A in the final at Cleckheaton Moorend and no-one got close to the overall victors in their five matches, with the finals day involving eight teams.

It was the first triumph in the event for Harold Park, although they had previously won it as Bulmer & Lumb in 2001.

Bradford have won the Yorkshire Veterans' Inter-District League, despite a final-day defeat against Halifax.

In the home match at Peel Park, Bradford suffered a 22-6 defeat as the visitors carded an impressive six winners, taking the aggregate by 42 chalks.

In the away match at Mytholmroyd BC, Bradford were almost as impressive, carding a 20-8 win, with Mick Lambert’s 21-10 the pick of six away winners as Halifax took the match 30-26.

Huddersfield finished off with a 34-22 win over Castleford to pip Halifax for second place.

Andy Hodgson (Pudsey) and Simon Coupe (Preston) were the latest qualifiers in the £5,300 Brighouse Classic.

Hodgson defeated Mark Hughes (Crossgates) and Ian Booth (Lower Hopton) before winning a tight game with Dean Missere (Sheffield) 21-19 to qualify, while Coupe took the scalps of Connor Davis (Crosland Moor) and Kieren Smith (Crossgates) before beating Josh Brown (Huddersfield) 21-10 in his third-round game.

The qualifying continues tomorrow evening, with many local bowlers in action.
