BRADFORD SEA AC

What a difference a week makes. A fortnight ago, we had a trip to Rhyl and fish were hard to find. Last Friday, we had a trip, same place, same boat (Goldilocks) and fish were plentiful.

Four tope were boated and returned, the biggest caught by Rick Bulliment and tipping the scales at 52lb, while there were plenty of other species, including bull huss (to 10lb), whiting, gurnard, dabs and plaice. Mackerel were easy to catch, so bait was not a problem.

All in all it was a good trip, with all eight anglers catching. Winner was Ben Kitchingman with 189 points, second was Rick on 120 points, with Rob Wadsworth third on 113.

Our next meeting is on Tuesday at the New Inn, East Bierley (8pm). People who are going to Culdaff and Westport should try to attend as there will be pre-trip meetings for both venues after the main meeting.

HEWENDEN AC

Result of Sunday's coarse match: 1 Ian Fieldhouse 18lb 10oz (peg 8), 2 Nigel Bower 6lb 12oz (peg 10). Section place: John Duncan 1lb 3oz (peg 12). All the fish were falling close in the margins and the shallow water by the lily pads. Sulvinder Ram had a superb day's fishing on Saturday off peg one up in the shallows, netting a huge bream catch. It is well worth the walk to the shallows, but get there early as pegs are limited. It has come to our attention that some members are flouting rules on pike fishing. Members must adhere to rule nine that the use of live and dead baits are banned from April 1-September 30. This rule has been put in place as a fish welfare measure, which is commonplace within other clubs' rules. The rules for pike fishing have been placed on boards in the car park and on the fence by peg eight, so excuses will not be accepted.

SKIPTON AA

The members' match on the Long Ing length of the canal at Barnoldswick was below par last Sunday, despite decent conditions. Plenty of fish could be seen rising but not many fed well. Result: 1 Graeme Waterfall 900g (1:15:12); 2 Andrew Leatt 280g (0:10:0); 3 Kenny Wright 230g (0:8:0); 4 Mick Cockshott 220g (0:7:12); 5 Simon Chenior 190g (0:6:12). Church Pool at East Marton will be the venue for this Sunday’s Craven Summer League match, and competitors will be hoping for much improved sport over that experienced at the same venue five weeks ago.
