YORKSHIRE, sponsored by Damart, had a good 44-point win against Greater Manchester on Sunday in the last of their first-round games in the Ladies' County Championship.

The home team, playing at Paddock C&BC, started well with a 21-5 win from captain Linda Gledhill (New Mill) and a 21-6 victory from Julie Best (Marsh United).

The away team, playing at Royton Cricket Club, had good performances from captain Andrea Buckley (New Mill), winning 21-11, and Katie Turner (Cranmore), winning 21-16.

Yorkshire have a bye in the final round in three weeks' time before they know if they have reached the semi-finals.
