BRADFORD made it four wins from four in the Yorkshire Veterans' Inter-District League after a 36-20 triumph over West Riding.

Malcolm Iles' 21-10 in the match at Peel Park was the pick of six home winners as Bradford took the verdict 21-7.

It was a lot tighter at Heckmondwike, with Alan Peel's 21-10 edging the aggregate for Bradford and a 15-13 away success.

* CHLOE Hirst of Halifax retained the Joan and Alan Wrigley-sponsored Yorkshire junior girls' under-18 title at Dukes Park in Bridlington after beating Eleanor Broadley (Almondbury BC) 21-12 in the final.

Hirst, a runner-up in the Yorkshire Ladies' Merit earlier this season, is a member of both the junior and ladies' county teams.

On a fine but windy day, 20 girls challenged for the title and Hirst took an early lead in the final but Broadley fought hard in a creditable performance.

Prizes related to appearance and conduct, sponsored by Pat and Alan Stephenson, were awarded to Chelsea Crawley (Almondbury Libs), Eve Johnson (Almondbury BC) and Georgia Hewitt ( Overthorpe).

Entries have increased this season, with 26 teams looking to become 2015 champions.

Birkenshaw A proved last year that any team has a chance of winning as players are handicapped according to ability.

The second round takes place on Friday, July 24, with the final eight teams playing to a finish on Sunday, August 2.
