BRADFORD College are the new kids on the block in the Bradford Table Tennis League this season – and they finally registered their first win of the season in Division Three against Hermits K.

The team have made a good impression so far and, in Yutaro Tsuji, they have the leading player in the averages.

He took three singles against Hermits to lift his tally to 22 wins from 24. Club secretary Graham Burrill also won three and Farook Khan added two as the newcomers celebrated a 9-1 victory.

In Division One, Fastbats B were also in buoyant mood as they tasted success after ten straight defeats.

Fastbats moved off the bottom of the table after completing an 8-2 victory against fellow strugglers Highdale B.

Greg Hill and Keith Smith were both unbeaten, while Helen Shields added a single.

In Division Three, the competition for places in the top seven is the closest of all the sections – with three teams competing for two berths.

Baildon B are currently sixth and had a great win at previously-unbeaten Pudsey B.

John Atkinson and Shirley Anne Toulmin both won twice and Dennis Bather won once, with Atkinson and Toulmin adding the doubles.

Baildon C are chasing Unity E for seventh and their cause was not helped when they were beaten 6-4 at Thornbury.
