A record 43 riders from Hull, Sheffield and hosts Heckmondwike took part in Sunday's Third Yorkshire Individual Championships at Firth Park, but the home club still won two trophies and had four other riders on the podium.

Pawel Idziorek made it a hat-trick of under-19 titles and was second in the open-age category, while eight-year-old Bella Naylor won the under-12 girls.

Some of the best riders in the country were taking part, such as British champion Andy Angell (Hull), Australian Bobby McMillan (Sheffield) and his Polish team-mate Damien Zereba.
