BRADFORD No1 AA

This year's Calder League came to a dramatic end last Sunday, with Mirfield winning the team tournament due to having a superior aggregate weight after finishing joint on 34 points with Punky's 8, and just half a point ahead of Drennan Barnsley after the sixth and final match. Trevor Hewitt won the individual aggregate weight with an impressive 110lb 7oz, while Craig Turbitt and Dennis White finished joint second with 86lb 1oz. The final match was won by Mirfield's Martin Highe with 19lb 8oz of grayling, followed by Dave Pilgrim with 17lb 6oz, both from Lillands Farm. More than 460lb of fish were caught by 52 anglers in the match, taking the total for the series past the 3000lb mark. The final members' match of the year will take place this Sunday at Roecliffe on the River Ure, drawing at 9.15am under the motorway bridge. Howard Foster leads the aggregate weight going into this match with 80lb 10oz. The trout season has now ended on rivers, so anglers shouldn't purposefully target these fish. A combination lock has been placed on the gate at Knotford due to it being repeatedly left open. The code can be obtained from either of the head bailiffs, whose phone numbers are in the yearbook, and any member found to leave it open will be banned from the club. The club's annual meeting and prize presentation will take place on Wednesday at Moorlands Social Club in Cleckheaton (7.30pm) and all members are invited to attend but must bring their yearbook to gain entry.
